This workshop is ideal for both beginners and confident sewists.  We’ll walk you through every step of the process - from choosing coordinating mats and adding structure to stitching seams, creating straps, and adding optional pockets.  The padded mats give the bag a plush, quilted feel without the extra work, making this a quick, satisfying project you’ll want to make again and again.

In this class, you’ll learn:

• Techniques for cutting and shaping padded materials

• How to add handles and simple pockets

• Tips for clean seams and durable construction

• Fun ways to personalize your bag

What to bring:

• Two padded dish drying mats, I used 18”x24” mats for the one on display.  However, you can use whatever size you prefer.  This pattern is very easy to adapt to any size dish drying mat.

• Lining fabric: ¾ yard of 42” X 44” wide quilting cotton.

• Pockets:  ½ yard of 42” X 44” wide quilting cotton.

• 1-2 yards of 1.5” webbing for straps

• Coordinating thread

• Rotary cutter

• 3” x 24” or 6” x 24” quilting ruler

• Scissors

• Pins and/or clips

• 90/14 universal needle is recommended due to the thickness of the drying mats.

• Walking foot for your machine if you have one.

Before class, wash and dry your mats and your fabric.  This will allow you to be able to wash your bag later!
