Middle School Student Tote Bag Class - 2 weeks (7/13 & 7/20)
You will learn how to create a patchwork quilted tote bag using your own machine. This is perfect for beginners, especially anyone wanting to learn how to use their sewing machines!
Class Supplies
1 charm pack
*Can be used to make multiple bags, or the inside
**Example used 24 on outside.
1/2 yard fabric - bottom and lining
*1/4 yard if using charm pack for lining
1/2 yard batting
Basic Sewing Supplies
Sewing machine in good working order with power cord and foot pedal
Sewing machine manual (if available)
Neutral cotton thread (light gray or white works well)
Bobbins (pre-wound and ready to go)
Rotary cutter (45mm recommended) or Scissors
Acrylic ruler (6" x 12" or similar)
Straight pins or sewing clips
Seam ripper
Fabric scissors
Helpful Notes for Parents:
Please label all supplies with your child’s name
Make sure sewing machines are threaded and working order before class

| Instructor Bio: | Molly Grusenmeyer is a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher (FACS) at a Pleasant Ridge Middle School, teaching Foods and Sewing classes. She loves teaching students to build confidence through creating useable sewing projects, and sharing her passion of sewing, quilts specifically. Molly is excited to share this project with you this summer and can’t wait to get creative! |
